The Atlanta Hawker

This is the definition of passion project for me. Rashad Carter is a Falconer in Atlanta, Georgia. While he may seem normal on the outside, he has a secret wild side. He spends all of his free time being a falconer. Being a falconer is a complete lifestyle. One must devote themselves to their birds.

I met Rashad at a Patagonia store. He happened to have one of his birds with him, so we struck up a conversation, connected on Instagram, and decided to film a movie about him and his birds. I shot with Rashad over the course of one hunting season. Just Rashad, the birds, and I running around in the woods chasing squirrels.

It was so exhilarating to see and get to know Rashad. He is one of the most interesting and deep people I’ve ever met. His story and journey inspired me, and I hope it will you. The trailer is below, with the full film still in post.
